Open Sky International

The roots of Open Sky Oasis are in Germany, where John David and a group of around 20 of his students founded Open Sky House in 2006.

Open Sky House is a vibrant international community and spiritual center dedicated to self-discovery and transformation. Located in Germany, it offers a peaceful, supportive environment where people come together for meditation, art, and community life. Through satsangs with spiritual teacher John David, creative workshops, and community activities, Open Sky House encourages individuals to deepen their inner journey and connect authentically with others.

The most important question you can ever ask yourself is “Who am I?”
Until this question is answered through direct experience, you will always hunger for the answer.

The Oasis

Why Inner Transformation?

Inner transformation is key to living more consciously. It helps us to let go of self-centred habits and opens our eyes to see the bigger picture of how our current lifestyles affect the planet.

Through meditation, self-inquiry, karma yoga and other practices, we bring more awareness into our daily lives. This allows us to realize that we are deeply connected to everything around us, creating harmony and balance within ourselves and ultimately with the world.

Inner Transformation leads to more and more presence.

How Inner Transformation Happens

Inner Transformation begins with Yoga and Meditation and this leads naturally to Self-Inquiry, especially by asking the core question: “Who am I?” This deep exploration helps us move beyond conditionings and identities and connect with our true essence.

Meditation allows us to cultivate stillness and awareness, while Karma Yoga—selfless action—helps us to integrate spirituality into daily life. Together, these practices create a powerful path for inner transformation.

We offer:

An opportunity to connect with a loving and powerful energy field that nurtures Inner Transformation

Volunteering & Moving in

Short & Long Term

One Week of Self Discovery and Personal Transformation

Now that the Oasis is ready, we are excited to open it up as a international space for Inner Transformation.

You are always welcome to join us for a week as a karma yoga participant at the Oasis! If you get touched and would like to move in, you can stay at the Oasis for 4 weeks to see if our community is the right fit for you.

“If we can accept whatever is happening, we can begin to see Paradise in every-day life.”

John David

Why the Oasis?

The state of our planet is becoming increasingly fragile due to overconsumption, pollution, and climate change. As these challenges grow, it’s clear that superficial solutions won’t be enough. We need a profound shift in how we think, live, and interact with the world. Developing greater awareness is key, allowing us to live more consciously, free from fear and constant desire, and in deeper harmony with the planet. This change must begin within each of us!

The Oasis is for those who recognize that awareness is essential for inner transformation. Awareness helps us move away from self-centred habits and see the bigger picture of how our lifestyles affect the earth. Bringing awareness into our daily lives through meditation and Self-inquiry we can discover that we are, in reality, one with everything and not separate.

The most important question you can ever ask yourself is “Who am I?”
Until this question is answered through direct experience, you will always hunger for the answer.
– John David –

As we cultivate stillness and awareness, we arrive at the essential question: Who am I? This Self Inquiry invites us to look beyond roles and labels, revealing our true essence. We are more than just our thoughts, bodies, or emotions. Embracing this question connects us to the peace and love within, fostering oneness with the world. Living from this recognition allows us to realise peace and love inside us and radiate this out into society.

The spiritual teacher of the Open Sky Oasis comes from the lineage of the Indian Saint Sri Ramana Maharshi and his direct disciple, the Advaita Master Papaji, both of whom emphasised the importance of Self Enquiry and living in Presence.
